Why are you participating in 23 Things? What do you hope to learn? What new insights did you have during Thing 1? How does writing on the Internet, knowing anyone could read it, change how you write or feel about writing?
This was a somewhat frustrating exercise for me, but I guess new learning can be frustrating sometimes. I think that I was finally able to finish the first two items by sheer luck, a good measure of perseverance...and by whining to Joan J. who held my hand and provided a large measure of moral support! This entire course contains elements that are all new to me and after viewing the video and reading the article for "things 1 & 2" my sense of feeling overwhelmed at the enormity of the task is exacerbated. I found myself wondering why in the world I had signed up for this during the school year! But, hopefully I will be able to complete my subsequent tasks with a little less frustration and experience a sense of accomplishment. It it always good to challenge yourself to learn new things and helps a teacher to relate to how students feel every day in the classroom.
There are several reasons that I signed up to take this course. First, I am hoping to ultimately be able to use some of these ideas in the classroom. I, also, hope to simply expand my knowledge base so that I can try to keep up with my students. In addition, I have stayed away from social networking sites and even posting information on listserves because I am quite frankly intimidated by writing for the Internet with the knowledge that it could be read by anyone. Perhaps the knowledge and confidence I gain here will help me to overcome that fear. Finally, it's just "cool" to know about this stuff!

It's a whole new world out there! Kudos to you for stepping up and giving it a try - you are off to a great start with a sharp-looking blog and a VERY chic avatar -- keep it up and have fun!
ReplyDeleteHello Neoblogger! I have been paging through the blogs created by the various members of "23 Things," and I decided to post to yours for two reasons:
ReplyDelete1. I LOVE your avatar! She is so stylish and cute. Also, thanks to the picture you posted of yourself, I can see that the avatar actually looks a lot like you. Well done!
2. I am also a little daunted by the enormity of the task ahead of us-- there's just so much to learn-- but I really like what you said about this learning process helping us to relate to our students in the classroom. When I get frustrated, I'm going to keep that idea in mind. Thanks!
I will be sure to pop in and check your blog in the coming weeks. Good luck!
