Thing 3

How might a blog support the work you do? How might you use a blog with students? How might they respond to a blog assignment? What concerns do you have about educational blogging?

Now I am feeling really frustrated. I just finished spending about 20 minutes talking about thing 3, and after I published it I found a small error. I went back to edit the post and ended up deleting the whole thing! Arg-g-g-g!!! Consequently, my comments will be much shorter this time.

I do see how blogs could be used to keep parents and students informed of assignments, etc. I also could envision giving students an assignment which would then require them to comment (in Spanish, of course) on a particular topic. I am still wary of publishing to the world, but, I am somewhat comforted to know that the settings on a personal blog can be adjusted to allow for viewing and posting by only those who are authorized. The overarching question still remains...where will the time come from to set up and maintain this tool?

The assignment was an interesting foray into the blog world.

  1. TIME is THE number one issue with all of us "of a certain generation"....This is not our natural way of working and we see it as one more thing - however, younger generations have no other way to operate than through the computer and they do not understand our constraints! It's a whole new world out there - and I know that I am not sure that I am ready for it.

  2. Oh poor Beverly! I feel your pain. I was working on creating my avatar and the power went off! But the up side is, it came out better the second time around because I spent more time with it. I am confident that you will master the activity!

  3. I did the same thing. After I thought I posted my comment it wasn"t there and I had to redo it! For me this is a huge step and I owe it all to Terri Buganski who was always there to help out when I was in any of her inservices. I was usually the one who would sit in the back of the class because i was so embarrassed at being so computer illiterate!! But look at me now blogging away! Terri would be proud!!
